Sam White, the appellant, was tried at the spring term 1901 of- the Jackson circuit court on an indictment charging him with the murder of Mary Williams, was convicted of murder in’ the first degree (March 28, 1901), and sentenced (March 80, 1901) to- imprisonment in the penitentiary for life in accordance with the verdict of the jury.
