MEMORANDUM AND ORDER

PLATT, District Judge.

Before this Court are cross-motions for summary judgment pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 56. For the reasons set forth herein, the parties’ motions are granted in part and denied in part.

BACKGROUND

Defendant AlliedSignal, Inc. (“Allied”) established medical and other benefit plans for its employees and retirees. One of those plans was the AlliedSignal Retiree Medical Plan (the “Plan”), the terms of which were stated in a document entitled Summary Plan Description (“SPD”).
