¶ 1. Robert Lee Davis was convicted by a jury in the Circuit Court of Washington County on all three counts of a criminal indictment. The indictment charged two counts of kidnaping and one count of rape. Davis unsuccessfully challenged the sufficiency of the evidence of guilt before the circuit court and also sought, without success, to have the trial court order a new trial on the ground that the verdicts were against the weight of the evidence.
