Plaintiff in error, Walter C. Cochran, was indicted by the grand jury of St. Clair county, Illinois, charged with the murder of his wife, Mamie Cochran, by shooting her with a revolver. A petition for a change of venue filed by plaintiff in error because of the prejudice of the inhabitants of St. Clair county was granted despite affidavits to the contrary filed by the State, and the cause was transferred to Washington county.
