Phipps, Judge.

The father of D. P. andT. P. appeals an order of the Juvenile Court of Murray County finding the children deprived and awarding temporary custody of them to the Murray County Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS). Because the juvenile court based its decision primarily on evidence received at an unrecorded hearing, we reverse.

In June 2006, DFCS filed a petition alleging that 12-year-old D. P. and 13-year-old T. P. were deprived, and the juvenile court entered an order authorizing DFCS to take immediate custody of them. Based on evidence presented at the detention…
