In 1884, Willis M. Cook acquired a tract of land of about sixty-six acres east of Whitney Avenue and bounded by it on the west in the town of Hamden. July 27th, 1911, Cook executed an agreement with Connecticut Trap Rock Quarries, Inc., whereby the Quarry Company was given the right, for a period of twenty years with the privilege of renewal for an additional term of twenty years upon the same terms, to quarry stone and rock on the leased premises, subject to restrictions in the agreement. The premises leased by this agreement were a large part of the property acquired by Cook in 1884.…
