The defendant, Floyd M. Gibson; was convicted of one count of theft of an amount exceeding $500 in violation of La. R.S. 14:67 and of one count of the unauthorized practice of law in violation of La. R.S. 37:213. Mr. Gibson is appealing his convictions.

STATEMENT OF THE CASE

Mr. Gibson was initially charged with theft of more than $500 in violation of La. R.S. 14:67. A day later he was charged with practicing law without a license in violation of Lá. R.S. 37:213.1 Mr. Gibson pleaded not guilty to both charges. A motion to suppress evidence was heard and denied.…
