In Buie v. State, 314 Md. 151, 550 A.2d 79 (1988), this Court held that a warrantless “protective sweep” of the basement of a dwelling house violated rights secured by the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution because the police did not have probable cause to believe, that there existed exigent circumstances sufficient to support the search. In Maryland v.
