Appellant was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. The only substantial evidence linking appellant to the murder was a tape recorded statement he gave the police. He repudiated the truth of it at a hearing on his motion to suppress and at trial, saying he admitted participating in the murder “[ujnder fear” because of threats made by the police.
