MAGILL, Circuit Judge.
The Abbott Bank-Thedford (the bank) appeals from the district court's decision affirming the bankruptcy court’s confirmation of the debtors’ Chapter 12 plan. The principal issue before us is whether the lien retention language of 11 U.S.C. § 1225(a)(5)(B)(i) must be applied literally in the case of livestock operations.1 We conclude that such an application must be rejected because it produces a result demonstrably at odds with congressional intent. *947We reverse and remand, however, because the confirmed plan’s treatment of the bank’s lien goes beyond a permissible…
