CRANDALL, Judge.

Defendant, Richard Robinson, appeals from his conviction, after a jury trial, of kidnapping. He was sentenced as a persistent offender to imprisonment for fifteen years. We reverse and remand.

In his sole point on appeal, defendant, a black male, alleges the trial court erred by failing to discharge the jury when the State used its peremptory challenges to strike black venirepersons in violation of defend*38ant’s fourteenth amendment right to equal protection of the law under the Constitution.
