Tried by a jury, defendant Manuel Jenkins was convicted of attempted burglary, a crime of the third degree, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1 and N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2. The trial court, based on the proofs before the jury, then convicted defendant of a related offense of possessing burglary tools, a disorderly persons offense, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-5.
