Hinman, J.:

The plaintiff has a verdict of $25,000 for the loss of sight of an eye, resulting from an explosion of chemicals in the course *665of an experiment which was being performed by her in the chemical laboratory of Cornell University as a part of her study of .chemistry. She was a student in the department of home economics in the State College of Agriculture, which is owned by the State but administered by the defendant.
