Hill, J.:
We consider here the admission of out-of-court statements given to two police officers responding to a 911 emergency call. James Lewis told two Wichita police officers that he had made the 911 call because the defendant, who usually carried weapons, had threatened him. At the defendant’s trial for possession of drugs, found near his person when he arrived at the scene after the officers, the trial court admitted Lewis’ statements in order to explain why the police officers approached the defendant with caution.
