Jenkins, Justice.

The eight children of an intestate brought an action of ejectment against the Federal Land Bank of Columbia and their mother, to recover a 127-acre tract and a 114-acre tract of land. The petition laid not only a joint demise in the names of all the plaintiffs, but additional ones in the names of the plaintiffs severally. The mother filed no defense. The bank filed a plea of not guilty, and also a plea seeking to set off, against .the plaintiffs’ claim of $500 a year for mesne profits, $79.25 taxes paid for two years, and $519 expended for digging a well and for roofing and…
