This is a workers’ compensation case. Galen McGinnis sustained an admittedly compensable injury on December 15, 1987, while employed with Weyerhaeu-ser Company. While lifting a log, he broke two lumbar vertebrae. It is undisputed that as a result of the injury McGinnis has a five percent permanent anatomical impairment to the body as a whole. McGinnis is fifty years old and went through the eleventh grade in school. At the time of the injury he had worked for Weyerhaeuser in the raw materials department for eighteen years and was earning $8.49 an hour. By June of 1989…
