Appellant, Rhett Stein, appeals from a post-answer default judgment 1 for $277,-100.00, plus prejudgment and post-judgment interest and court costs, rendered against him and in favor of appellee, H. Wayne Meachum, when Stein, after having filed a general denial, failed to appear for trial in a civil assault case. Meachum brought action against Stein and three other defendants alleging that the defendants assaulted Meachum.
