JORDAN, Circuit Judge.

James McBride appeals an order of the United States District Court for the East*94ern District of Pennsylvania denying his petition1 under 28 U.S.C. § 2254 for habeas corpus relief from a state murder conviction. McBride argues that his petition should have been granted because his constitutional right to effective assistance of counsel was violated when his counsel failed to object to various references the prosecutor made at trial to what McBride alleges were matters implicating his constitutional right to remain silent.
