October 1, 1897, appellees Haney Smith and Henry Smith, mortgaged 100 acres of land in Clay county, Illinois, to one S. E. Johnson, to secure the payment of the sum of $1,000. S. E. Johnson assigned the mortgage to appellee Eobert L. Johnson, and on the nineteenth of February, 1901, Eobert L. Johnson filed his bill to foreclose the mortgage in the Circuit Court of Clay County. Ho defense was made to this bill by any of the parties to this record, and the court decreed a foreclosure in accordance with the prayer of the bill.
