¶ 1. Anthony Joe Doss was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to death for the murder of Robert C. Bell. Doss's conviction and sentence were affirmed by this Court on direct appeal. See Doss v. State, 709 So.2d 369 (Miss. 1996), cert. denied, 523 U.S. 1111, 118 S.Ct. 1684,140 L.Ed.2d 821 (1998). The following summary of the facts is compiled from that opinion:
