The appellant, Tom Burns, was convicted in the circuit court of Greene county of a violation of Sec. 12294, R. S. 1939, Mo. R. S. A., sec. 12294, in signing a name other than his own to an initiative petition proposing an amendment of Art. IV of the State Constitution by striking out twenty-five sections and inserting sixteen new sections in lieu thereof. The general purpose of the amendment was to substitute a unicameral General Assembly for the present Senate and House of Representatives.
