Appeal from a judgment of the County Court of Sullivan County (Ledina, J.), rendered April 15, 1999, convicting defendant upon his plea of guilty of the crime of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree.

This case stems from a traffic stop resulting in defendant’s detention and arrest. The relevant facts are drawn from the suppression hearing. On December 22, 1998, defendant was one of several passengers in a car which was stopped for trafile infractions by State Troopers Mathew Johnstone and Kevin Reimer in the Town of Mamakating, Sullivan County.…
