L. c. 40A, § 21, as amended, by way of an appeal from a decision of the zoning board of appeals of the town of Belmont granting a variance to Santoro’s Service Station, Inc. (Santoro), allowing a lot of land (the locus) almost entirely within a general residence district to be used for purposes accessory to a gasoline service station in a local business district.
