Norman Wayne Manchas was tried by jury and was found guilty of third degree murder in connection with the killing of Frances Layne at her home in Uniontown on April 3, 1991. 1 Post-trial motions were denied, and Manchas was sentenced to serve a term of imprisonment for not less than ten (10) years nor more than twenty (20) years.
