BOEHM, Justice.

After an eight-month trial, a jury found John Matthew Stephenson guilty of burglary, theft, and the murders of three people. At trial, the defense contended that the murders of John “Jay” Tyler; his wife, Kathy Tyler; and Brandy Southard were the result of a drug operation unrelated to Stephenson. The testimony of several de-. fense witnesses implicated persons Stephenson contended were involved in the drug ring.
