The Detroit, Grand Haven & Milwaukee Railroad extends from the city of Grand Rapids to Grand Haven. It crosses the highway at a point called the high bridge. The Michigan State Telephone Company, prior to 1899, constructed a telephone line along this highway. The defendant the Grand Rapids, Grand Haven & Muskegon Railway Company operates a third rail system of electric railway from Grand Rapids to Muskegon, with a branch to Grand Haven.
