Plaintiff Brittany Tovar commenced this action after her son, a beneficiary under her employer-sponsored health insurance policy, was denied coverage for gender reassignment services and surgery. She alleges her employer, Defendants Essentia Health and Innovis Health, LLC, d/b/a Essentia Health West (collectively, “Es-sentia”),1 violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. § 2000e et seq.
