On the thirtieth day of September, 1870, Samuel J. Walker held the title to certain real estate in the city of Ohicago, *364known as Packer’s subdivision, subject, however, to, a mortgage given Powell by conveyance dated April 8, 1869, and recorded May 25, 1869. The present suit relates only to blocks 14 and 16 of that subdivision.
