MEMORANDUM DECISION

NICHOL, Chief Judge.

This memorandum decision concludes the trial stage of the government’s case against two leaders of the 1973 occupation of Wounded Knee, South Dakota, the historic Indian village. 1 The occupation lasted seventy-one days and the trial lasted slightly over eight months. Although the trial was often protracted and tedious, it came to a swift end. After deliberating the case for about nine hours, one of the jurors became ill and could not continue deliberations.
