Appeal from a judgment of the County Court of Chemung County (Monroe, J.), rendered April 16, 1981, upon a verdict convicting defendant of the crime of robbery in the first degree.

Defendant was convicted of the robbery of the Glider Cash and Carry Store in the City of Elmira, which occurred July 27, 1979 at 9:20 p.m. At that time, according to the duty clerk, a person wearing a black mask and poncho and carrying a rifle entered the store and took $680 from the cash register.
