A multiplicity of assignments of error is usually an indication of weakness. Here they are thirty-one in number, nearly all of them either trivial or so ruled by previous decisions as to be removed from the realm of the debatable. The one important question is whether the evidence, which ivas wholly circumstantial, is sufficient to support the verdict, — that of guilty of murder in the first degree with penalty of life imprisonment,— having regard to the well-established principle that “when a charge of crime is sought to be sustained by circumstantial evidence,…
