In an action to recover damages for personal injuries, the defendant City of New York appeals from a judgment of the Supreme Court, Kings County (Garry, J.), entered July 24, 1990, which, upon a jury verdict in favor of the plaintiff finding the appellant 90% at fault in the happening of the accident and the plaintiff 10% at fault in the happening of the accident, awarded the plaintiff the principal sum of $900,000, representing $90,000 for past lost earnings, $400,000 for future lost earnings, $250,000 for past pain and suffering, and $260,000 for future pain and suffering (i.e., $1,000,000…
