I. INTRODUCTION

The plaintiffs in this product-liability lawsuit have brought claims against a number of manufacturers for their failure to warn of the dangers of asbestos associated with their products. Defendants include both commercial manufacturers, who produced goods for the general market, and a smaller subset of companies who contracted with the United States Navy (“the Navy”) to supply pumps, oil heaters, and other equipment.
