On November 23, 2011, a severely disabled child was admitted to Westchester Medical Center suffering from what appeared to be scald bums. The defendant, a licensed practical nurse who had given the child a bath earlier that day, was subsequently charged with several crimes on the theory that she had burned the child with hot water.
