TORRUELLA, Circuit Judge.

This appeal arises from a conviction for the importation and the possession with intent to distribute cocaine under 21 U.S.C. §§ 952(a), 841(a)(1) and 18 U.S.C. § 2.

I. Background

On November 9, 1985, a United States customs agent observed Manuel Flores disembarking from a cruise ship in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The agent, his suspicions aroused by the man’s strange manner of walking, followed him and questioned him.
