Bill in equity, brought by the petitioners, a joint stock corporation. to the superior court for Hartford county, to compel the specific performance of a contract to assign a patent right. The superior court (Loomis, J.) passed a decree in favor of the petitioners, and the respondents filed a motion for a new trial and a motion in error. The case is sufficiently stated in the opinion.

1Opinion of the CourtCarpenter, J.

It appears that the contract set out in the plaintiffs’ bill was not, at the time of its execution, duly *326stamped pursuant to the laws of the United States. On the 26th day of March, 1867, the collector of the first collection district of this state caused said instrument to be stamped, and then and there entered upon its margin the following certificate.
