This cause comes before us on a writ of certiorari issued upon the application of petitioner, Wallace Taylor, to review an award made by respondent Industrial Accident Commission in favor of the surviving wife and minor children of Walter J. Thomas, who was employed by petitioner as a well driller in connection with the drilling of an oil well at Montebello, California, and who sustained injuries, arising out of and occurring in the course of his employment, which proximately caused his death on the day following.
