Thomas Conyers was convicted in Supreme Court, New York County, of several crimes allegedly committed during and immediately following the armed robbery of Marion Dantzler and Grace Johnson. During his trial, Conyers testified on his own behalf that in fact there had been no robbery and gave a description of the events leading to his arrest which differed significantly from that provided by Dantzler *177and Johnson.
