After a jury found the defendant guilty on indictments charging him with three armed robberies, see G. L. c. 265, § 17, the judge found him guilty of being a habitual offender. See G. L. c. 279, § 25.1 On appeal from these convictions, the defendant claims error in the jury instructions, and in the judge’s *334denial of his motion for a required finding of not guilty on one of the three armed robbery indictments.
