This case involves allegations of police brutality. On May 22, 1979, plaintiff filed a complaint alleging counts of assault and battery and deprivation of his constitutional rights under 42 USC 1983 against defendants City of Detroit and two Detroit police officers. On June 8, 1983, the jury rendered a verdict in favor of plaintiff and awarded plaintiff compensatory, exemplary and punitive damages in the amount of $1,350,000. Defendants appeal as of right. We affirm.
