Approximately 10:30 P.M. on June 7, 1976, two teenage cousins, William Burrell and Grover Hudson (the deceased), were walking to a neighborhood convenience store in the city of Mobile. They approached the intersection of Michigan and Bay avenues at which an automobile was stopped for a stop sign and walked behind the automobile to cross to the other side of the street.
