Respondent William Brown appeals from a judgment entered on July 13, 2016, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York (Raymond J. Dearie, Judge ), which, pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254, grants petitioner Tullie Hyman relief from a New York State judgment convicting him of, among other crimes, the second-degree depraved indifference murder of Maria Medina, the innocent victim of a gunfight bullet gone astray.
