MARTIN, Justice.
This case considers the propriety of sanctions under N.C. R. Civ. P. 11(a) and attorneys’ fees under N.C.G.S. § 6-21.5 for alleged violations by the plaintiffs regarding certain claims in an estate case. The evidence before the trial court revealed the following relevant facts. Defendant Rachel B. Sullivan (Rachel) is the daughter of Millie P. Bryson (Millie). Plaintiff James M.
