Plaintiff, Maria Rosario (Rosario) went to the emergency room of Lincoln Hospital commencing May 27,1969, with a number of complaints. On December 6, 1969, she returned there, complaining of pain over both temporomandibular joints. (These connect the lower jaw to the temporal bone [skull] and are similar to a ball and socket. The jaw bone is called the mandible; the ball at the upper extremity of the mandible, which fits into the socket in the skull is called the condyle.)
