This appeal is the latest in an ever-lengthening line of cases trailing in the wake of Congress’s enactment of a limitation period for the filing of federal habeas petitions. See, e.g., Delaney v. Matesanz, 264 F.3d 7 (1st Cir.2001); Neverson v. Bissonnette, 261 F.3d 120 (1st Cir.2001); Gaskins v. Duval, 183 F.3d 8 (1st Cir.1999) (per curiam).
