BROTHERTON, Justice:
In this case the defendant, Timothy Lay-ton, who was ultimately convicted of aggravated robbery and sentenced to serve forty-seven years in the State penitentiary, moved that his court-appointed counsel be permitted to withdraw and that he be allowed to conduct his own defense during his jury trial. The trial court, the Circuit Court of Jefferson County, granted the defendant’s motion that he be allowed to defend himself.
