This is an appeal from an order of the district court of the eleventh judicial district for the County of Flathead modifying a divorce decree as to custody of a child.

Mark William Svennuningsen (hereafter referred to as appellant) married Memry Ann Svennuningsen (hereinafter referred to as respondent) on August 19, 1967. Their one child, Derek, was born January 6, 1971. Appellant is a doctor of optometry and has practiced in Whitefish since September, 1967.
