Appeal from a judgment of the County Court of Rensselaer County (Ceresia, J.), rendered September 10, 2012, upon a verdict convicting defendant of the crime of murder in the second degree.

On a morning in March 1994, the victim was found bludgeoned to death at her place of employment, inside of a staff apartment of a residence for the developmentally disabled. Interviews with the victim’s family members indicated that defendant, who was 17 years old at the time, had been sexually involved with the victim.
