HORSEY, Justice:

The question presented in this labor-management dispute is whether management may exercise a collective bargaining agreement right to withhold holiday pay benefits as an offset for state unemployment benefits claimed by employees during a layoff over a holiday season. Defendant, General Motors Corporation (“GM”), appeals from a January 22, 1987, final judgment of the Superior Court in the amount of $989,597, with interest, awarded to plaintiff, Local 435 of the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace & Agricultural Implement Workers of America (“Local 435”).
