OPINION

MANNHEIMER, Judge.

Sixteen-year-old Shane R.C. Harapat shot and killed his friend, Kenny Alcantra, while the two were alone in Harapat's bedroom. The State charged Harapat with second-degree murder, alleging that the shooting occurred while Harapat was engaged in "gunplay" that manifested an extreme indifference to the value of human life. Harapat defended by asserting that the shooting was an accident, and that he should be convicted only of criminally negligent homicide.
